WHAT IS THE SPORT OF WEIGHTLIFTING?

CLEAN AND JERK

SNATCH

The sport of Weightlifting is composed of two lifts. They are the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk.


In a competition scenario, the athlete is given a certain amount of time to complete each attempt. They are allowed three attempts at the Snatch followed by three attempts of the Clean and Jerk.


If competition isn't your thing, it is quite rewarding in the fact it will develop athleticism, coordination, mobility as well as strength and power.

SNATCH

   The Snatch is one continuous movement - moved from the floor to overhead with arms locked out. Finished by standing up tall at the end.

CLEAN AND JERK

The Clean and Jerk is broken into two movements - first lift from the floor to the shoulders and second lift from shoulders to overhead. Finished by standing up tall with feet together.
